Originally introduced in 1971 as groundbreaking SLR glass, these rare lenses have been beautifully resurrected by the engineering masters at True Lens Services (TLS). The result? A premium, modern cinema set that perfectly balances legendary 1970s vintage character with rock-solid, production-ready mechanics.
The Magic of Electron Beam Coating (EBC)
To understand what makes this set so special, we have to look closely at the glass. In the early 1970s, Fujifilm introduced a pioneering multi-coating technology called Electron Beam Coating (EBC). While most manufacturers at the time used 3 to 4 layers of coating, Fuji pushed the boundaries by vaporizing up to 11 ultra-thin layers of metallic coatings onto the lens elements using an electron beam.
In practice, this unique coating creates a visual signature that is impossible to replicate digitally. When hit by a direct light source, the Fuji EBC primes produce striking, multi-colored flares in vibrant shades of purple, magenta, red, and warm gold.
But it’s not just about the flares. These lenses deliver a beautiful, gentle softening toward the corners of the frame, a subtle and romantic glow on bright highlights, and an incredibly smooth, textured bokeh that gives your backgrounds a painterly quality.
