16-bit linear RAW Recorder follows the original AXS-R5. Created in response to Cinematographers of feature film, commericals, reality, documentary, wildlife, and underwater production, among other genres, the R7 delivers continuous 4K 120 FPS recording (with the F55), up to 30 seconds of cache recording, a rugged chassis, more rigid attachment to the camera. It also features dual media slots. In the case of Venice, the media slows unlock the ability for RAW / X-OCN and XAVC 4K simultaneous internal recording. AXS-R7 offers dual recording slots to accept AXSM A Series S48 memory cards. Compared to previous Sony 4K recorders, the new recorder doubles the maximum record frame rate in 4K RAW from 60 FPS up to 120 FPS with Sony's F55 camera. For shooting at higher frame rates, the recorder captures 2K RAW at up to 240 FPS from the F55 and F5 for playback at 10x super slow motion. With the recorder docked to the F55 and F5, cinematographers can take advantage of RAW cache recording at 23.98P for up to approximately 30 seconds while in standby mode, an important feature in documentary or wildlife production where capturing spontaneous action is required.
